A Simple Curve
Leo Says: Filmed and about life in the Slocan Vally (between Nelson & Castlegar B.C) near were I grew up. This is a beautiful film and I thought it captured life in the Kootenays perfectly. I am a little biest and have given this film a perfect 10/10 but keep in mind that I am also more likly to judge harshly due to the fact that I grew up there and know the life well. Ealsy one of the best Canadian films of the year and that my friends is saying a lot. I highly recomend it.

Leo says: I have yet to here anyone make a good case for why they did not like this movie, the most commun excuse is that there was to much CGI and that it was to obvouse which is just silly the only thing obviouse about the CGI is that they are imposible things to do any other way. And as far as to much CGI, its superman, for those who whant a superhero movie with less flash and more class watch Sidekick or maybe "Smallville" .
I loved this movie and see very few flows (kevin spacy) being about my only real complaint. I give this film a nice healthy 7.5/10 it is better than most of its kind.

An Inconvenient Truth
Cast: Al Gore
Plot summary: Director Davis Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global warming with Mr. Gore's personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change. A longtime advocate for the environment, Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way. "Al Gore strips his presentations of politics, laying out the facts for the audience to draw their own conclusions in a charming, funny and engaging style, and by the end has everyone on the edge of their seats, gripped by his haunting message," said Guggenheim. An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of despair but rather a rallying cry to protect the one earth we all share. "It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely," said Gore.
Leo Says: In my opinion this is the most important documentary to make it onto DVD and into the mainstream. I was never a fan of Al Gore as a pollution but as a environmental activist he seams to have many of the facts and I have never seen them presented this well, he really gets the point across and in an uncompromising way that will still be understandable even to those who have never considered the environment before.

written and Directed by: Woody Allen
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson, Woody Allen.
Plot Outline: An American journalism student (Johansson) in London scoops a big story, and begins an affair with an aristocrat (Jackman) as the incident unfurls. (more) (view trailer)
Leo Says: Light, smart and funny. This is Woody Allen at his very best, Scarlett Johansson and Hugh Jackmans performances were absolutely great. Though I find Woody Allens antic's can get a little irritating at times I enjoyed this through and through.
You, Me and Dupree
Cast: Owen Wilson, Kate Hudson, Matt Dillon, Michael Douglas,
Plot Outline: A best man (Wilson) stays on as a houseguest with the newlyweds, much to the couple's annoyance. (more) (view trailer)
Leo Says: It always bugs me the way Hollywood likes to try and trick its audiences into seeing a movie by telling them that it is something that it is not. This film was advertised as "Hilarious" and compared to wedding crashers. This movie is nothing like wedding crashers, it is not that kind of comedy. First of it is way smarter, it is more a light dark comedy if that makes sense. I did not laugh as much as I was expecting to but at the same time it was way better than I had ever hoped.
Plot Summary:Set at the end of the 60's as Swaziland is about to receive Independence from Great Britain, the film follows the young Richard E Grant at 12 (Zach Fox) through his parents traumatic separation, till he's 14 (Nicholas Hoult). It is based on true events from Richard E Grant's childhood (view trailer)

This film is a hymm to a land far above and to the magnificence of vast, wild space.
Country: UK Language: English
Plot Outline: In the 1970s a music promoter plucks Siamese twins from obscurity and grooms them into a freakish rock'n'roll act. A dark tale of sex, strangeness and rock music. I loved it, it has a great punk soundtrack very believable dynamic characters and was all around well made. I believe this film is destined to become a cult favorite

Plot Outline: A murder inside the Louvre and clues in Da Vinci paintings lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for two thousand years -- which could shake the foundations of Christianity. (more) (view trailer)
Leo Says: Those who haven't read the book tend to like it better. The movie does follow the book quite well though I felt that they concintraited to much on the hollywood moments, not enough on the suspence and intreuge. I also felt Tom Hanks was only cast because he is the biggest star in hollywood. After having said this I do recomend it. I rate it 7/10 and I was expecting more of a 9/10. The big problem with books translated into movies is that one needs about 7 hours of film and even then you are dealing with someone elses interpritation of the book. I will be watching this again and I think I will like it better the second time around.
Cast: Justin Long, Jonah Hill
Plot Outline: When a high school burnout discovers he's been rejected from every college he's applied to, he creates a fake university in order to fool his overzealous parents. (more)
Leo says: I was not expecting much from this title and the pg rating worried me a bit, how do you make a good college movie with a pg rating. They pulled it off nicely, lots of laughs intelegent story and dialoge, all of the acting was up to par over all a very easy going and enjoyable movie.

"Family Guy" season 5
Leo says: Like all Family Guy seasons this rules.
Plot Summary: Mild-mannered computer consultant Norman Neale has two great loves in this cruel world: Comic books and his office's effervescent main receptionist... (more) (view trailer)
Leo says: There was a screening for this film done at the paramount theater downtown, so I went. Not having a clue what to expect, all I knew was that it was a superhero movie with a budget of $35,000. This movie proves that a good script fused with talented actors and onehellofa director can be enough. Having said this they found a guy to do the special effects for free and most of the other expensive stuff was done for free as well. If I am to compair this to all other movies out there I will give it a 7/10 but compairing it to others done for under $20,000,000 Id say 10/10. It truely is that good.

Leo says: I just finished watching this little doc. I found it enjoyable as well as educational. Many people are very quik to point out that cole power is also a sorce of polution, but there are othere sorces of power. Now the reason I bring up this subject is like a lot of other viewers I would have liked to have heard a little more about how we could get enough power for millions of cars and still cut down on polution by a substanial chunk. Having said all this I do very strongly recomend this film you will learn something wether it be about cars, corperations or human nature there is more here than is initialy aperent.

Rated 18A for strong graphic violence and sexuality, nudity, language and some drug use.
Leo says: This film was quite good, it had a good and somewhat twisted story, interesting cheractores and decent acting. I do beleive that it could have been better if they had a better directore but I do recomend it, just not for the squeemish there are a few brutal and slightly disturbing scenes.
